Knees essentially are crap, they’re a design fault, so lots of cyclists have problems with them, either from general swear and tear or from a spill.

Steve, like all true bikers, has wasted no time in buying cool and fancy gismo things to aid with the recovery. The item in question here is the new Asterisk Cell knee brace.

Reduced showroom opening hours for next week or so

<dc:subject>Shop Blog</dc:subject>

At Real Cycles we pride ourselves on offering the best possible prices on all our stock all the time. To do this means we have to run an efficient ship with every penny we spend to run the business being used wisely. The biggest overhead for any business is wages, so we make sure we run with just enough staff to get the job done and cover things like holidays and sickness etc without sacrificing our legendary levels of customer service to both our in-store and online customers.

Normally things run fine, but sometimes something happens that we can’t plan for, and next week one such thing will happen: A key member of staff (well, it’s Steve the business owner, some may say he’s key, some not!) is going into hospital for a knee operation (torn miniscus) and will be out for a week or two.

Now, the rest of us know everything will be fine, there will be less tea drunk and less YouTube videos watched, but otherwise everything will be as normal. Nonetheless, he being the big boss has decided that no way could we cope without his presence and so the showroom will be operating on reduced hours for the duration of his absence,to allow the staff to focus on sales and shipping. So, for next week the new showroom hours are as follows:

Monday: 10-6
Tuesday: 10-6
Wednesday: 10-6
Thursday: 10-8
Friday: 9-5.

Our mail order side of the operation won’t be effected at all, emails will still get replied to super fast at almost any time of the day or night (Steve will have his laptop by his sickbed) and orders & shipping will be processed in the usual super fast style our customers have come to expect.

Expect an update next week on the state of Steve’s knee, how the surgeon said his was the most damaged one they’ve ever seen and how things here went exactly the same as usual, or maybe even a bit better ;-)

Carryduff Focus advert

If you live in the Carryduff area you’ll be familiar with the Focus mag. It’s a small local business/event handout that gets distributed to all the local households. It’s not a big print run and it’s not a way to get your business in front of millions, but it is a successful small local business, that gets a good enough response to make supporting it worthwhile. So we took the front page.

The advert below goes out in Feb 2012.
